In my own experience as a copywriter and marketer there's a lot of real world truth to what Gary is saying in this video (7 minutes 17 seconds)...


If you're selling a high ticket item you should...at the very least...give your prospects the option of a live phone number they can call to place an order.

"Cold" calling guru Ari Galper does over $60,000 in sales a month by using highly trained telephone consultants to follow up on his prospects.

He uses live chat on his site and has his staff immediately call people who enter their phone number asking for more information.

The style is non threatening...his consultants are very much just giving good advice and gathering information...there's no hard sell.



Another dramatic example of the difference between online sales and telephone sales was when I was appearing on a show that fed to over 40 commercial radio stations across Australia.

I tested sending listeners to this show to a web site to sell a product.

And I tested sending those same listeners to a live phone number where they would have to leave their details and have someone call them back (with the sheer volume of calls you get from a show that size you need to do call backs...it's impractical to handle all those calls at once).

10 TIMES as many people would call a live number than would go to a website.

Over 97% of prospects who called the live number would place an order when they were called back.

And with a website was converting at around 10% that means we were only getting 1/100th of the sales driving prospects to a website than we did driving them to a live telephone number.

I don't know about you but I wasn't too happy about doing the same amount of work to get 1% of the sales.



How do the figures stack up with a plain sales letter...giving your prospects the chance to order by phone?

Can you really increase your sales by getting your prospects to order by phone?

I can't share exact figures with you but it should be enough for me to say most of my clients use a live phone number as an ordering option if it's at all cost efficient.

And it's something you should consider testing too.
