And to prove it he bet his boss $10 that he could write a full newspaper size page of solid small type and guarantee Hart would read every word of it.

Hart immediately took the bet.

Hart immediately gave him the $10.



The secret to driving your response through the roof with a headline is personalization.

This can be especially effective when you're using a direct mail piece to put together joint ventures or big deals.

Or online you can use some very simple code to personalize sales letters, optin forms and thank you pages.

Let me give you an offline example that produced a 41% response.

I was volunteering my time and expertise with an organization in my home town of Cairns that helps homeless children here.

And we wanted to get some big business people, politicians, news presenters etc involved in a fundraiser.

So to ensure they read our mail we put the name of each of our prospects in the headline at the top of the page.
