Great Opening Lines
Here are some great opening lines from the fantastic copywriter Joe Sugarman of blublocker sunglasses fame...
"We developed an exciting new consumer marketing concept. It's called "stealing". That's right, stealing!"
Now try reading that opening line and NOT continuing on to read Joe Sugarman's ad about a service that bought damaged and faulty merchandise, fixed it and resold it to consumers at a bargain price.
Or how about these old gems...
"Losing weight is not easy."
Most people looking to lose weight will relate to that!
"It's you against a computer."
"It's easy."
"It had to happen."
"Hats off to IBM."
Joe Sugarman's very short opening lines help make it VERY easy for his prospects to get drawn into the ad.
There's no great commitment in reading a 5 word sentence.
Then you read the next sentence and before you know it you can't stop reading...you're into the story in the copy and you have to finish it.
Take at look at the opening lines in your sales copy and ask yourself 2 questions...
1. Is this opening line easy to read?
2. Does it create enough curiosity or desire to force my prospect to read the next line?
